Good design begins with knowing your clients. There is no right or wrong design style. Instead, it is about helping clients find their style and what works best for them. It is a collaborative process so that the end result creates a home that reflects their unique lifestyle, vision and taste. Along the way, I hope to simplify the design process, and help clients find the perfect balance between function and beauty for a finished product they are sure to love.
Marla Aboulafia is the founder and principal designer of MRA Interiors.
She discovered her passion for interior design after completing extensive renovations in her own home. She attended The New York School of Interior Design where she studied color, furniture design and architecture. She then launched her company in 2004.
Marla is not defined by a specific design style. She works closely with clients to truly understand their lifestyle needs and vision for their home. So no matter what they prefer – classic, contemporary or transitional lines – she creates tailored solutions and timeless designs to bring their vision to life.
Marla believes that every space has it’s own personality and tells a story. Beautiful design is accomplished through the successful layering of color, texture and pattern. She often combines a variety of architectural styles, while reflecting the latest design trends. Marla has always enjoyed a passion for antiques and loves to add a vintage flair to her spaces for an unexpected element of surprise.
Prior to launching MRA Interiors, Marla worked as an advertising account executive managing the creative development and production of direct mail print campaigns. She worked closely with creative teams daily, helping to guide the creative process to achieve her client’s marketing goals. Her passion and understanding of this process, coupled with her experience working with color and design, are talents that visibly translate into her interior design business today.
Marla is a graduate of Connecticut College with a B.A. in Psychology. She lives in Stamford, Connecticut with her husband and has two grown children.
